Step 1: Ingest (Build Your Knowledge Base)

You bring your documents into Envolved. We handle the rest.

Ways to Add Documents

  • Upload Files - Drag and drop PDFs, Word docs, text files, or Markdown
  • Import from URLs - Paste any public webpage URL
  • Search Academic Sources - ArXiv and PubMed integration
  • Connect Cloud Storage - Link your Google Drive

Behind the Scenes

When you add a document:

  1. Content Extraction - Text is pulled from PDFs, Word docs, HTML
  2. Chunking - Documents are split into searchable passages (500-1000 characters)
  3. Embedding - Each passage is converted to a semantic vector for meaning-based search
  4. Indexing - Everything is added to your searchable knowledge base

Status Tracking

Watch your documents progress in real-time:

Queued Waiting to process
Uploading Downloading and extracting
Indexing Adding to search engine
Verifying Confirming searchability
Ready Available for chat

Most documents are ready within 1-5 minutes.

Step 2: Ground (Establish Your Truth)

This is the "magic" of Envolved. When you ask a question, the AI doesn't search the internet - it searches YOUR documents.

The Grounding Difference

Without Grounding (Traditional AI)
  • Pulls from general training data
  • May hallucinate or make up facts
  • No way to verify claims
With Grounding (Envolved)
  • Searches only your uploaded documents
  • Can only claim what's in your sources
  • Every statement traceable to a citation

How Grounding Works

  1. Query Understanding - Envolved analyzes your question to understand intent
  2. Semantic Search - Relevant passages are retrieved from your documents
  3. Relevance Ranking - Results are scored for how well they answer your question
  4. Context Selection - The most relevant passages are prepared for the AI

The Citation Layer

Every piece of information retrieved is tagged with its source. This means:

  • ✓ You see where every answer comes from
  • ✓ You can click to read the original context
  • ✓ You can verify any claim instantly

Step 3: Generate (Get Cited Answers)

The AI generates a helpful response based solely on your grounded content, with citations linking every claim to its source.

Response Generation

  1. Context + Question - Your question and relevant passages go to the AI
  2. Grounded Response - The AI crafts an answer using only provided context
  3. Citation Matching - Statements are linked back to source passages
  4. Delivery - You receive an answer with clickable citation numbers

Three Ways to Get Answers

  • Text Chat - Type your questions and read responses
  • Voice Chat (Live Mode) - Speak your questions and hear responses
  • Search Depth Options - Standard, Agentic, or Deep Research modes

Multi-Turn Conversations

Envolved remembers your conversation:

You: What are the main findings?

Envolved: The study found three key results... [1]

You: Tell me more about the first one.

Envolved: The first finding relates to... [1, 2]

Follow-up questions use prior context automatically.
